I don't know how you get animals to comply. Every time I try to capture a moment like that it's gone before I can set up the camera.

I had packed up the DSLR and was heading for the subway but I usually keep the P&S out to catch anything interesting on the way and it was good light hitting a content dog.

Personally my own dogs lack any and all compliance genes the only shots I've ever liked of them required a telephoto lens and a lot of patience because the moment they see a camera the only shot I can take is a macro of the noses.

At the end of a boat tailed grackle's high pitched call, comes a "ratatattat" sound (sort of like a woodpecker's tapping).
It comes from flapping their wings about a gazillion times a second.
If I hadn't been watching and rapid-fire clicking, it would still be a mystery to me.

The "Masters of Disaster" was an airshow team that featured Jimmy Franklin and his wing walking partner Bobby Younkin. They both died instantly in 2005 in Moosejaw when their respective planes collided in midair.

Their children, having grown up on the circuit as airshow brats, met, fell in love, and took over the show after their fathers' deaths. I took these images at the 2009 Cleveland Airshow as the second generation of M of D, Kyle Franklin and Amanda Younkin, pass the sword of a new era of sky pirates.
