5. Once upon a time I had a brother
(one of five, all very different from each other)
who apprenticed and learned how to be a German "Konditor" which means a person who knows how to bake these very cakes.
He was an amazing human being in the sheer versatility of his talents.
I could take you on a photo tour of stuff he did that would blow your mind.

He knew how to do all of these cakes, and he could do about 15 Schwarzwälderkirschtorten
(black forest cherry cakes, the German language simply adds words in a queue and they don't care how long they get)
in my kitchen, utilizing all surfaces, at one time.

Looking at this I could not comment for a while, because it so reminded me of him.
I lost him to cigarettes a few years ago at age 51.

10. I am so sorry Mira
51 is way too young to die

I still hope the picture reminded you of the good times.

13. You just never know...
...when a photo will strike a resonant chord. Who would have thought that a photo of cake and coffee would bring such heartache to the surface. Mira, I'm sorry about your brother.

11. I was talking about your photos yesterday
After a day of doing whatever the hell it is that I do - stopped somewhere for dinner. While I waited for our food to arrive I looked over the dessert menu. I never order dessert but it made me think of your photos. I mentioned them. Especially that I've never seen a cake that thick and was wondering how many shots of espresso you had in those delicious looking cups.
