Today at VA, dogwoods and a special quilt.

The lady with the red shirt made the quilt. Her name is Minnie Thompson from Somerset, Ky.

1. OH - WOW - how impressive. The dogwood is our state tree, I'm pretty sure it is,
and it is not yet blooming here.

The quilt blows my mind, as I see it she got the emblems in a cloth base and then stitched the details by machine. But I don't know for sure - will send it to my quilting friend for comment.

Is there more you can tell us me about it? As always, I'm curious.

2. Not sure how she did the patches. I know she got help from
the Pentagon on the design of the patches.

I have her phone number.

The Dogwoods were just starting to come into full bloom. I want to get out and catch some Redbuds.

3. Utterly amazing. I think she would faint if some ignoramus
like myself called her for more information. I can pretty much figure out what she did, but was curious about the base of each emblem, it would have to be fabric, and wonder how that was achieved.

4. She does it for money, so I don't think she'd mind sharing
secrets outside her local market.

6. Thanks. The flash on my camera is so weak, I couldn't
get a good image of all the people in the crowd.
