3. Oh man, it's justified, they ARE getting better and better. You're obsessed,
I'm impressed! They're all very worthwhile, but I like the top one best, the colors on the bird are magnificent. In this photo the water itself shows the back lighting beautifully.
In for a penny with my opinions, I would play with losing the entire top fleur de lis thing on the feeder now, and crop a little below the water line. It will probably produce a perfect 3x4 proportion photo.

I also love the second one a lot,and would look at it with the top taken down.
It's fun watching your excitement, and especially your product!

4. Careful.
You'll find yourself losing hours to the hummingbirds even without a camera. Add in the camera and the time can be measured in weeks that you will lose. Not a bad thing really as long as you let it be relaxing. Warning, the time suck gets even bigger at the end of July/August when the hummingbird wars start. Looks like you found a perfect place for your feeder, enough light for the photos but no hot spots behind. A tad jealous here on that. My best place for the feeder has a road 10 feet beyond it. Best place as it is right outside the kitchen nook window so we get to see them whenever we sit in there. If you haven't found this site yet, visit. http://www.hummingbirds.net/

Love all 3 three photos though the first one really knocks it out of the park.

A very lucky shot during hummingbird war season....

9. It only took a few hundred thousand shots
to get that and then I didn't even know I got it until it was on the computer. When I said lucky I really meant it. It helped that I had the camera pre-focused on an area and the exposure ready but it took a lot of tries to get anything. Most were empty or a darker green blur. lol

10. I had to pre-focus on the area also and set the...
camera to manual. I also tried using the flash to bring out more color without taking away from the backlight and it seems to have worked. One other thing I did was put tape over the feeding hole that was away from the camera to force them into the frame. The problem was I couldn't take a lot of shots because of the time loss waiting for the flash to recharge. It was basically a one or two shot chance to get the shot. That and patience.
