How is everyone doing on Backlit?
I tried to get some backlit photos yesterday, and meh. I think I went home before the sun was low enough. It's probably a good thing I can't enter. But the weekend is about here, so I would love for you all to get inspired. Here are two acceptable ones followed by a more typical bizarre attempt. I like this okay, but, much as I hate to say it I really do prefer birds more from the front. :silly:

I thought this would turn out better than it did. It seemed really backlit to me when I took it, and I even got down on the ground. Now it just looks like some pretty flowers. The mistake was that these weren't big enough or situated the right way to actually have the light shine through the petals.

I just thought this was kind of cute, because I get a kick out of the seniors graduating, etc. Can this be backlit because of the reflection?

If I could enter, and these were my only new backlit photos, I would have to hit the archives. But, I hope to try again before the end of the contest.

Good luck everyone, and try to remember, the contests are for

FUN

8. two weekends to go!
As they say, if at first you don't succeed........I put my mediocre attempts up to motivate. I hope to get some more backlit shots. Remember that water, because it reflects light, can be a good backdrop for backlit shots. The moon can, too, but it is not full yet. I did get some photos of backlit leaves with the light shining through, but it definitely looked contrived, as in, "ok let me try to find a backlit shot." A single flower would have worked better. Maybe I will see if there are any magnolia blossoms yet.

Good photography luck to you!

Funny, I almost had everyone vote on Trees for a subject. I love that red tree, too! But keep trying to top yourself........
