OK, I really love flowers
From a few days ago in British Columbia - I'm told it was the best couple days of the year. I didn't argue.

1. If I didn't love flowers before
I certainly would after looking at these photos.

(But I already loved 'em)

Really like the variegated orange and yellow ones............

8. Me too.
Being a southern Californian, I'd never seen them before. Such a beautifully elegant flower.

6. I like the crispness of the images. As for my favorite one....it is...
number seven, the weedy looking grass. I guess it's the simplicity of it that is appealing to me. I'm curious what setup you used?

7. Thank you, I like that one a lot too
Set-up is simple - A nikon D300 with and 18-200 zoom. All hand-held. Shooting at 200 ISO. Afternoon light.

9. Thanks for the information.
For now that is way out of my range. I use a little point and shoot Casio ELM series camera. I like it's small size and unobtrusiveness, but I am finding myself with equipment envy....LOL...

10. It's a trade off for sure
I've always shot with SLR's so I stayed with them. I'm also a techie so I like stuff that will do what I tell it to do.
And, I've seen simply great photos taken with point and shoots. Not to mention that my neck and back would love me a lot more if I didn't lug pounds of equipment with me everywhere I go.

11. some years ago I was with a Tenants Association....long story...
but I was the one taking photographs of violations. I had a fabulous Nikon N4004S SLR. I did get some spectacular photos that helped immensely in winning the case..........worth over $100,000....but when we had some engineers come in to do inspections. They came in with a little point and shoot, they took fabulous photos with no sweat. They didn't even look at what they were shooting. They would point the camera under things & shoot....

I was futzing around with dials and not really getting as much as they did. It opened my eyes a great deal. My little Casio has some degree of control, for sure, not as much as yours, but most of what I do requires a fast shutter and it's more in the line of photo journalism. I'm taking shots of things that I find of interest.

Sigh....a nice telephoto lens would be nice. I envy people who get shots of flying birds. Someday, maybe.

12. Sounds perfect.
One of these days I'll get a point and shoot too. I do a lot of traveling that involves a lot of walking and, well, my camera and lens are heavy! I do think that there's many things a point and shoot does as well or better than an SLR. I've seen a lot of breath-taking macros and some reallh difficult exposure situations where the smaller camera beats mine - at least with the level of skill I have now.

13.  an SLR is amazing, IF you have the tech skill
I have to admit when it got into light gauges, F stops....and all, my eyes start to glaze over.....but I admire the patience.
