6. Yeah, I know what you mean, that's why I asked.
I was taking photos of some birds in the breezeway and just saw that sorta begging to be taken. So I did but it's sort of an "eh" kinda shot. Thanks for commenting.

3. A boxing horse?
My first impression!

I like the lighting a lot.
I sort of wish the hoofs weren't lost on the bottom.

5. He's on a platform so I cropped it out...
...didn't lose any of the foot though.

8. I see
I'm so enjoying your photos of horses. I live on a horse ranch and try to walk by the beauties regularly for my horse fix.

4. Not too much. Horse has not enough space on the left IMO
as well as that I just don't know what to do with this, really.
Well, heck. You asked. And I consistently all but dream of your photos. So it's cool.

7. I agree on the left side thing.
Normally I don't do that but thought I'd give it a try. Thanks for commenting! I just popped this one off while I was taking pictures of some birds and it looked interesting but I think it doesn't really rise to any real level of interest. Thanks again!!

9. Sometimes you have an image and you see something in it,
but no matter how you try, you can't make it work as you wish. Sometimes the light doesn't translate as you wanted. Different angles and depth of field might have made a big difference. Use the rails as your "rule of three.

As much as I like the drama of the darkness, crop it out to the left of your signature. I'd crop the height to the top of the horizontal rail above the horse's head. A shallow depth of field would have added more separation between the horse and the back ground, but I don't know the relative distances between the horse, rails, and background. You can try blurring the wall, but that is no replacement for Bokeh. Try it to see if it works. Keep the rails sharp, and blur the background enough to keep it from being the focus, but not so much that it loses character.

Of course the texture of the wall is interesting in itself, maybe more interesting than the horse. (I'm a texture freak.) If you can get the hooves in without the stand becoming a distraction, try that. Cloning the stand across the bottom of the frame might help frame the image.

The first thing I'd do is blur the wall to see what that does. If it works, try cropping the right side out of the image.

10. Here's a quick and dirty example of what I was getting at.
Not perfect, but it should show how it makes the horse stand out from the background.
