my hike today
in Sequoia National Park... hiked from Cresent Meadow to General Sherman... mostly snapshots because I was awed by the trees and wildlife. Delighted in many trees, bears, deer, birds, lizards and one big rattle smake!!

orchards along the drive to the park

The General

people looking at General Sherman

one of three bears I came across.. I kept my distance

the rattler that didn't want a fight today... noticed that tail!

1. So impressive! The wildlife scares me as much
as I am awed by the trees. One only knows their size when there are people in the photograph, and then it is overwhelming to contemplate.
How did you manage to get so close to the dangerous critters?
I'm amazed, and thanks for posting these!

2. used my 28-135mm
I was about 30 feet from the bear and 20 from the snake... there were a few other people around and there is always safety in numbers...

I shot the trees with my wide angle and that helped a little to show the grandeur... I was going to Yosemite this weekend but as I am moving up to Sacramento today, will still have time during the next few weeks. ...figured that I would wait a bit after the deaths there (do want to climb to the falls)

...as we were driving through, I considered how wonderful that all this land has been put aside for all of us, for safekeeping... we can't lose it, nor all the other wonderful things, in these United States, we care for collectively. The Republicans must be stopped.
