| 1. And a kick so this doesn't get hidden in a flood of spam! |
|
Sorry, HappyCynic! I had a narrow window of opportunity to post my '11 retrospectives tonight. Didn't mean to distract from the contest.
Congrats on your win and good luck with the contest. You're doing great!

I don't think it distracted at all. To be honest, the "distraction" potential didn't cross my mind at all. What immediately came to mind was happiness that you were posting photos (and a huge treasure trove of them ) outside of the contests. It's been a while and I've missed seeing your photos (and I'm sure many others feel the same).

do you hear me say SPECTACULAR? What a sendoff to what I suspect will be one of our most intriguing contests in a while. I right clicked on the image, and the presentation of it sitting back on the page makes the black and white, and the balance, even more pronounced. I love it!

driving up to Oregon from California yesterday, we passed field after field of sunflowers with the backs of their head to us... didn't stop for a picture but none certainly would have been as pleasant as yours!

| 13. Black and white is so beautiful. He really nails the HDR. |
|
I find B&W HDR much more appealing than color. That image would not have worked in color.
Imagine the state of the art if color photography was invented first.

| 15. The entries are thrilling to me. Also the excitement the subject is generating. |
|
Imagine if we did b/w more often, how we would progress in it! I for one had a set of potentials ready, made my links, pasted them in to look at them "in place" as I do when I make my choice, and threw them out. I'm back at work, and havin' fun and learning some stuff looking at the beautiful entries. They surpass my expectations.

a particular shade of red.

and I must tell you, I almost spit on my screen laughing. Mom came running. So it's a solid success around here.

kind of like stepping into Narnia. But it's more emotional rather than visual. It resonates with me.

That was my stair photo I couldn't find for that contest, since it was on film. Least this time it was scanned so easier to find. It is in the "Beehive" a set 3 early 1700's building remains.
I have been enjoying Sofia photos and teasing Blue in CA that I think she lost her son somewhere between the 2 places. If her camera cost too much to fix tell her to put a paypal donate button on her page. I would donate. Thinking a few others would too. :)
Also would like to here how that Bula (?) ball is working for your knee now that more time has passed.
