| Any Paint Shop Pro users here? |
|
I have Paint Shop Pro X v. 10.3. I'm thinking of upgrading to PaintShop Photo Pro X3. I'm wondering if this does much more than my old program. Does anyone know? It's an inexpensive upgrade, so I may go ahead and do it anyway, but I'd like to hear if anyone has had any experience with this.

but do you forgive me if I use this for a minute to tell you that I checked on the grandchildren and saw Sofia roll over? Yes you will. Oh my Goodness. She is yet another gorgeous child. Thank you for everyone's indulgence, and back to the topic at hand....

I thought that was pretty adorable, too. I'm sure now that the kids are getting settled back in LA, we'll be seeing more blog entries. Also we're going to be down there in about a month, so I iwll bring home many photos.

Haven't seen pics since the earliest, missed their move, etc. Hope all's well with them! (and you, of course.)

and have been getting resettled in Marina del Ray. Kristina hadn't posted on her blog since right before they left Costa Rica, but I've talked to them on the webcam. I'll be in full-on grandma mode when we're down there next month, so I'll be posting some pics for sure.

The layout/toolbars and such are different in X3 than previous versions so you'd have to get used go that - they're aren't SO different that it would be very hard to learn the new arrangment. I find myself using X2 more but I took forever to move from Paint Shop Pro 8 to X2 so that's just me. PaintShop combined with Nik Software plugins makes for a great digital darkroom. I never used version 10 but I figure that X3 probably has some pretty good tweeks and additions from version 10. Like you said the upgrade is pretty cheap so you could take the leap. Besides you'll still have version 10 to fall back on. Versions X2 and X3 co-exist on my computer so it would probably be the same on yours.

I have versions 9, 12, and 13 installed. JASC's v9 is the last version that preserved all the EXIF data. Corel's v10 and beyond discard all the EXIF they don't understand, just like Photoshop does. Have not gotten around to uninstalling v12.
Love the fact that most/all of the Photoshop plug-ins work with it.
PSP 13 (full) is on sale at Corel.com for $30 through the end of the month, upgrade at $25. I cannot say that v13 does a lot more than the previous versions, but for the sale price why not?

At the price, I can hardly go wrong, and I could always uninstall it if I didn't like it for any reason. I've never spent any time at all iwth Photoshop, so I can't really compare, but I've always been really pleased with the results I get with Paintshop, especially at the much more reasonable price. The only down side is that tutorials in Outdoor Photography and so on always refer to Photoshop and never Paintshop, but I've been able to pretty much figure out equivalencies.
I've always been a Corel girl. I much prefer WordPerfect to Word, as well, from my years as a legal secretary and transcriptionist.
