include a bit of info about the picture. where it was taken/what kind of animal it is (for anything exotic)/how you went about taking the picture

Or do you mean for the comment thread on the photo group? I think it might be too hard for the host to put a comment from each person into the thread. But we could ask that people put it into the title. My "Sentry" would become "Great Blue Heron: Tennessee River."

I actually think that is a good idea, because we are always getting comments from people asking where photos are taken, and I bet they would be interested in knowing for this contest in particular.

4. Here is what I think I could do, and I'm willing to do it.

Each person could name their photo with a short name as usual, and name it whatever they want to.
Put the name in the header as always. Then a descriptive sentence of what animal/ where/ and maybe special effort taken
can go in the box where you post the photo, on top of the photo.

In the preliminary threads I can then, right under the description of "please vote and keep them kicked" list the description with the number of the photo.

It would be possible, but not necessarily instantaneous for the viewer to connect them up, they would have to look and count.
I like that it would make the viewer more involved and make them study the photos more.

run a poll with the options of Yes or No for the photographers to get the opinion if they want to do this.
Then I'll go with the majority.
