December contest, and DU3 - musings from the hostess

It may be that all will be well in the switchover, but probably not.
There is no polling capability yet in DU3, which logic says will prevent a normal progression of the December contest.

I am capturing the entries/names/locations of the entries as they come in. They will be waiting and ready when we can resume our contests.

So, keep entering and I will hold them in safe keeping until we can run the contest.
I have asked the administrators about it, but I think they are too busy right now to worry about it.

I'm not the best person to be caught in a switchover of this sort, since my computer savvy, just like my camera savvy, is very limited.
But I will safe guard what has been and will be submitted, and I'm not going anywhere.

1. Sounds like you have it under control.

Came right over to check on you soon as I saw Skinner's message. I look at it this way, it isn't like the contest makes or breaks any careers or banks so it won't hurt to wait if need be. We had a contest that took 3 months to get done once so it won't be the first time. :hug:

2. Thanks very much CC. Without feedback or recognition of that I had a tricky

situation to deal with I felt like I'm whistling in the dark all by myself, the only one caring, or noticing there is a problem.
I'd like to be holding a full deck of submissions, and I hope the last 10 or so come in for when the time again is right.

I think just holding on to everything is a good idea. When DU3 is up and running then we can go forward with the prelims. If we miss a month, so be it.

4. I'm laying low, saving the information.

It will work out and be nothing but a blip in time. I don't like that it is happening on my watch, because I am not the most savvy with new stuff when it comes to computers which means someone else might have handled this transition better.

5. You're the host. It's your call.

Monthly contests can be stressful enough without adding to it. Won't hurt anything to wait until things are more stable on DU3.

I do think it will all work out...and waiting is part of that.

I dunno about outside polling and, frankly, I wouldn't want to be the one that had to figure that out on short notice.
