But I strongly suggest getting ahold of Osamu Tezuka's Metropolis. Some of the most gorgeous animation I've seen.

Rintaro marries CGI and hand-drawn animation very well, and of course the character designs are excellent. Interesting use of music, too, particularly (I'm trying to avoid spoilers here) in the climactic scene, where I strongly suspect the use of music is a homage to a certain Kubrick film. But the story left me cold, somehow. It's worth watching, but I haven't found it to have much rewatch value.
