from a universalist background and don't believe the Bible is infallible. Some of them their eyes got huge, and the class teacher didn't know what inerrant and infallible meants so I had to explain that.

No real issues came of it, though, as we had just been talking about being unevenly yoked and the other teacher was talking about being married to an atheist. We just focused more on the difficulty of not being a carbon copy of your spouse and on the issue that what is important is trying to work on that personal relationship with God.

farthest out of the closet I have come theologically. And yeah, I already have people praying for me but not specifically for being an apostate but because I have real problems.

Which is why I say that we need to merge churches or something because spending time with people I disagree with helps me to stop seeing them as an ideology I can't stand but rather as people I can, and do, love.

Maybe we should start a liberal churches movement wherein we all agree to go to conservative churches for night service or prayer service. *g*

10. Oh my grandmother this past while

during Thanksgiving weekend told me she prayed for me because I don't go to church except on Sunday mornings. :eyes: Like that really has an effect on me. Doy. I go to church and worship and fellowship because I enjoy it and like it when I go. If I went just because I was told I would be grumpy and it wouldn't do me nor God any good and might even turn me off.

I have very similar experiences to you, GPV. Although I go to a more moderate to liberal church (a UCC one), my wife goes to a conservative Southern Baptist church, from which we have a group of friends that we hang out with. (It's our bible study group; we hang out a lot outside of church as well. It's a pretty close-knit group.) They're very, VERY nice people, but they are very conservative both politically and theologically. So far, I've gone half as far as you have: I've outed myself as a political liberal, but not liberal theologically. I'm not sure how they'd react if they knew that I didn't believe the entire bible is inerrant (sp?), or that I think non-Christians can be saved.

7. Well, if it weren't for my fears about getting into it with my father-in-

law I'd just let it all hang loose. I worry less about my hubby's opinion than I do FIL's.

My BIL is very very conservative and he is sort of aware that I am theologically liberal, not on specifics but in that I told him if I went to Bible school I would go to the UCC seminary in Bangor and would never have anything to do with a more conservative schoo.

He just pulled a face at that and said he felt just the opposite but left it at that. :)

I hope someday to start going to bible studies with the liberal local churches, but that depends an awful lot on me getting my driver's license so I can get there.

But I have to ask, do you and your wife actually attend separate church services? Do you ever just take turns and alternate between the two churches? If I could I would do that. We have a UU, UCC, and Episcopal church in town.. plus a sweet little Catholic chapel that is open in the summers. I would be most happy to rotate between them. :)

8. We are members of different churches.

This is definitely an issue in our marriage. Once in a while I go to church with her, but I don't have any intention of becoming a member there -- it's just too conservative for me. She aware of this and we deal with just going to separate churches. She's only been to my church once, when I became a member and made my statement of faith to the church. We've talked about going to each other's churches more often, but so far, it's only been me going to her's and not vice versa.

We do have a bible study at her church every Friday night that we both go to. That's pretty cool. :-)

By the way, I know you go to a pretty conservative church. What's the denomination?
