They are a nice forum for religious discusssion (even welcome non-christians like me). I mostly lurk, but they seem to have both liberals and conservatives (religiously) present in good numbers.

MAN is that a busy, media-rich site! Have your experiences there been mostly positive (I DID notice you can create an 'ignore' list)?
Oh yeah, I'm 'DesertedRose' over there, too :D

although there are conservatives (make no mistake), the moderators usually do a fairly good job.
Even with those that I almost viscerrally dislike (Messianic Jews), I've managed to have good discussions.
Edited to add -- I have no problem with Jews who decide to that Christianity is the right religion for them, or Christians that wish to practice their religion more in accordance with the Hebrew Testament. My problem is with the Southern Baptist funded psudeo religion that makes converting Jews who are not particularly knowledgeable using deception...

They didn't like me. Nobody does though. I just got an Email saying I was banned because of "my attitude" whatever that is. I didn't get any sort of warning about it either. I already had one warning from something else but you're supposed to get up to seven warnings before you're kicked off and I have hardly been a new member. *sigh* So I don't know what happened. I guess I'm too liberal for them and too Christian for DU. I guess I'm just a freak who doesn't belong anywhere.

|
been breaking their rules in that I post in the Christians only section despite being a universalist and not agreeing to the Nicene creed. So far no one has booted me but I am sure it's only a matter of time. There are other places you might be able to fit in, but that was one of the busier boards: http://www.hostdiva.com/liberalchristians/index.php?option=com_weblinks&catid=13&Itemid=23

And just been there since earlier this month. I haven't ever bothered anyone and I've had plenty of people treat me rudely but yet I'm the one who ends up getting in trouble. *sigh* I just hate it. I didn't get a warning or anything. I did get one warning for something else but not for this. Just out of the blue banned me!

forays into Lib Theology and the newcomers question and answer area so I can help people who sound like they need a liberal perspective.
At any rate, please don't take being banned personally. In fact it's a badge of honor since many of the liberal community have been booted from there, especially over the homosexuality issue. We had a silent protest going, which was what the Barbed Wire Jesus icons signified.

Why didn't I get a warning or anything like that? You're supposed to get up to seven warnings before being banned and I didn't do anything wrong at all. I got a warning once but to me wasn't anything and no reason anyone should've warned me or something. They claimed it was my attitude but I've been just chatting lately in groups where I identify with and playing games. *sigh* I was starting to really like it there and thought there was a place for me. *sigh* What's WWMC??

Don't let others chase you away. For each of the obnoxious ones, there are probably 3 others who are glad you're here (a 3:1 margin, or 75% approval rating, if you prefer).

Edited on Mon Dec-12-05 03:23 AM by DesertedRose
at ChristianForums and got rankled by a thread posted by an admitted conservative fundamentalist, trying to stir stuff up. (There were actually two, but one in particular stood out)
WHY can't they just leave people alone? grrr x(
They're just nasty, spiteful, mean, snarky.....aargh
And something else I saw rankled me: I answered to a post about how old I was when I had my baby and I was the *oldest* one, at 36! Someone made some comment along the lines of 'there's a reason why God wants women to have kids by a certain age' (not necessarily directed at my post, but STILL....) My gosh, would she have the nerve to say that garbage to Sarah while pregnant with Isaac?!?
I figure God wanted me to have my son EXACTLY when I did, else He wouldn't have allowed it to happen! Sheesh! And it's not like I had a CHOICE in the matter, you know? I married late! What, am I supposed to just get married to anyone at 18 and have five or six kids with Joe Blow instead of waiting patiently for the right person for me, living a full life in the process?!? AARGH
BEWARE the fundies on that board! They are EVERYWHERE

I happen to think that God gave you your son at exactly the right time - when you had a healthy environment, tons of wisdom, and more patience than ever before!
I was blessed with my daughter when I was 40 (she was adopted, and she was 2 when she was placed with us); thus, if I would have had her naturally, I would have been 38 (if her soul had come to us in a different way).
Beloved Daughter, in my particular situation, is a pampered princess - pampered second to none!

She is indeed blessed! There's something to be said for wisdom and patience! And it seems like you have it in spades.
I was thinking last night, not only Sarah, but Elizabeth in the NT too...she was 'past childbearing age,' and gave birth to John the Baptist!
Having babies past 40 is not that unusual in my family, actually....my grandmother had my dad at 40, and had her last at 42! On my mom's side, my grandmother and GREAT grandmother were pregnant at the same time....one with her first, the other with her last! My mom and her aunt are the same age! And Great grandmother was in her 40s! Regardless of how your children come into your life, when it's time, it's time! I STILL can't believe that comment. *shaking head*
I must admit that fortunately I DID find an 'older moms' thread (upon further searching). I think I just need to stick to the liberal forum....

Now, that I think it ... my paternal grandmother was 45 when she had my aunt.
My sister was 38 when she had my niece.
I guess we do wait a bit to become moms!
On edit: I have been not only sticking to liberal forums, but pretty much sticking to liberal friends.
Life seems to be too short to be miserable hanging around Bushbots.

too! There are Old and New testament verses to reflect the denunciation of their faithful professions of elder women bearing God's chosen messengers. Well, I guess, their Bible studies missed these 2 stories of some of the most influential people in the Bible! I wonder what they study and read in the Bible?

Seems the only verses they 'interpret' are the ones that reinforce the idea of a patriarchal, repressive society; hardright conservative Christians interpret things in a very self-serving way (that is the patriarchs are served well).
