| A Blessed Holy Week to everyone |
|
It's the most intense time for my choir: rehearsal on Tuesday, Tenebrae for the section leaders tonight (I attended), Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil, and Easter Sunday.
Our anthems include:
Palm Sunday: Hosanna to the Son of David (Thomas Weelkes) Salvator Mundi (John Blow) Drop, Drop Slow Tears (William Walton)
Tenebrae: Lamentations of Jeremiah by Orlando di Lasso
Maundy Thursday: Ubi Caritas (Maurice Durufle) Christus Factus Est (Anton Bruckner) Tantum Ergo (Deodat de Severac)
Good Friday: Crucifixus (Antonio Lotti)
Easter Vigil: Hail, Gladdening Light (Charles Wood) Arise My Love (Healey Willan)
Easter Sunday: I Was Glad (C. Hubert Parry) Victimae Paschali (Tomas Luis de Victoria)
Fortunately, since we're busy during the week, we have to sing for only one service on Sunday.

| 1. Are you the conductor? Or are you a pastor? |
|
I meant to ask that of you in another thread somewhere where it seemed you might be a pastor, but I can't remember where - probably the "fewer seminarians going into pulpit" thread.
huh huh - you said "John Blow" hunh huh uh uh hu huh.
The music all looks excellent. I just sang the "Christus Factus Est" a few weeks ago. Wonderful!! Not an easy piece by any stretch of thinking.

and a preacher's kid who would run screaming in the other direction if anyone ever tried to recruit me for seminary. :-)

| 7. I think she mentioned attending the Episcopal cathedral in Seattle |
|
We had baptisms, too. Two adults and a whole slew of babies who kept up antiphonal wailing through much of the service. :-)

| 8. Happy Vigil, my friends... |
|
I've got sunrise service in a few hours, then 2 more services. My dad is here with me this weekend, and we're enjoying doing not much of anything except eating and watching DVD's together.
In all our busyness tomorrow, let's not forget WHY we're celebrating! Christ is Risen! Christ is risen, indeed! Alleluia!

I just got done doing the Easter egg bit. With my parents being divorced, we're taking Dad out for brunch tomorrow, and Mom & her husband are coming over for supper later on. Busy, busy, busy! But happy to have people around yo do this for:)
