Thank God I returned to church Sunday. For the first time in 25 years

I made my way back to church (a beautiful UCC in my area).

I had spoken to Reverend Ken the day before--I homestly had to ask him what was appropriate attire. I explained the difficulties in my marriage and he told me to make certain to meet him before the service. I did and he introduced me to many people.

I took my son as well and he enjoyed it very much. It was good to feel joined in the Spirit again and to be part of something created out of love.

I'll be back for Christmas Eve services and on Sunday.

I thank Him/Her for bringing me back to that love.

3. found my home at Christmas too

That was 2 years ago when I wandered into an Episcopal church. Everyone was very hospitable and nobody put pressure on me to join. I explored for awhile before joining. I have been to churches where they want you to join and start coming to all these groups right away. That made me feel uncomfortable. I am happy now!

4. I'm an Episcopalian, too, formerly Lutheran

My first experience with the Episcopalians (other than attending Evensong at Canterbury Cathedral at age 17--talk about starting at the top!) was at a college chaplaincy. I was immediately attracted to the style of worship, but what really struck me was being asked to stay for dinner--a simple meal of soup and bread. I couldn't that first week, but it was nice to know that the invitation was always open.

The Episcopalians have been criticized for not being "evangelistic" enough, but some people are more like cats and need a low-key approach.

5. The "E" word... we joke about it a lot

but I think there are lots of different ways to do that, and some of the best don't involve many words.

I think Episcopalians do believe food works, however!
