http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=291x5986You may remember I introduced myself back in June when I attended an Episcopal church and really liked it.
After three weeks, they asked me to join the altar guild. I guess they were pretty short on people. It fit into my schedule, so I accepted. Taking care of the "good things" and keeping everything clean and it its place is so the opposite of me. I'm an aging, hippie slob.
I really like helping out, and it's cool to learn about all the symbolic objects that are used in the eucharist. It's a gorgeous old (by West Coast standards) church. The congregation goes back to the 1870's, and the church was built in 1912.
So, after I'd been there three weeks, they showed me where they keep the keys to the silver. Talk about trust.
I'm so happy in this church. I look forward to Sunday mornings there. It's so peaceful and full of love. Only problem is I'll miss the blessing of the animals because I'll be stuck at home after surgery.
Here's the website. There are some cool pictures.
