1. My view

#1 indicates a belief or view that Jesus had good ideas that should be followed.
#2 in essence means that you don't have all the answers but are willing to explore.
#3 means that you care for the environment, Nature, and might believe in several god/dess(es).

About 5 years ago, he passed. That picture reminds me of Oz.

I come out 100% UU - so, as you know, I split my time between Church of Religious Science and UU. I like exploring spirituality too, I guess. That's why we are here in the SOUPs group.

I've taken this quiz before, and depending on my mood, my top result will vary from Neo-Pagan to UU to Secular Humanism.

I think this one is pretty solid though, as I've felt more clear on my beliefs lately.

6. Well, my top three used to be

UU, Taoism, and Mahayana Buddism. Those three would come up in various order again and again. Now, after 4 years in Christian seminary to be a UU minister, my top four are:

1) Neo-Pagan
2) UU
3) Mahayan Buddhism
4) Liberal Quaker

Taoism dropped to #9! :wow:

I got it WAY down, at like 51%, even though it is the practice/path I most identify with! I got 100% UU, 90something Secular Humanist, 90something Liberal Protestant. :shrug:

10. Belief-o-matic is great marketing for UU's

I was talking with someone who worked for the district office, and he said that he's heard that some people are starting to visit UU curches because they hear about it on this survey.

Somehow, I think that anyone who doesn't profess a lot of strong beliefs (and most people who aren't already in a church don't have real strong beliefs) ends up with UU and liberal quaker and the like at the top of their list.

I think the whole idea that you can determine your religion by holding up your beliefs for inspection is very UU in nature. Most religions tell you what to believe. People don't usually join the baptists because they are really hot on immersion -- that just comes with the program.

11. I started visiting a UU congregation because of it

I had never even heard of them before. After taking the test, I did more research on them, and discovered I was one all along. :-)

It's the only time I've ever been in a church (like setting) and felt really uplifted. I've only been 3 or 4 times, but I plan to keep on going. Positive reinforcement works wonders.

and I visit it whenever I can.

I'm also a member of a Church of Religious Science.

All that says is that I'm a universalist, and honor all spiritual paths.

I'm very glad to see more and more people attending UU churches.

I'm so happy I took the beliefnet quiz - I would have never found my UU church otherwise. What an amazing group of people - it's a very small congregation. It is lay lead, and it lends even more of a richness...even though I've only been about 4 or 5 times (since I found it in the summer), I have never come out of a service anything but uplifted.

The space itself has such a positive vibe...I could feel it the moment I walked in that first time. It's one of the very few places I've ever been to in my life where I feel I belong. :-)

I'll definitely check them out. I've been interested for a while in finding out more about Unitarian-Universalists. I'd never heard of Religious Science before.

18. I've go to both.

Religious Science has a mystical, fun, positive-thinking kind of flavor, and they mention 'Spirit' a lot.

My UU church never mentions a deity, or lack thereof, and focuses upon social activism.

I like both, but prefer Religious Science because of its spiritual service and prayer, Spirit being mentioned.

To each his or her own.

As long as my progressive friends go to a church that honors different paths.

That makes me happy.
