Vinyl vs CD? Love records better- but some CDs rock too...

How about stereo vs. mono Records? I prefer mono- but I loves my stereo LPs too...

1. In the corner of my....

family room sits a tube amplifier, belt driven turntable and Sansui speakers all in honor of my VINYL.

A couple LP's of some value: Wire "Pink Flag" and Frank Ifield/Beatles "Jolly What" on VeeJay circa 1964 or so.

About seven storage crates full of vinyl accumulated since 1960...all the important LP's, 45's and EP's are on tape and now CD....

...and the beat goes on...

2. As kids we had a small blue portable turnable w/ amp.

It was, of course, mono. That was my introduction to the Beatles. To my mind, they never sounded better. We have about 1000+ vinyl LPs. There are so many records that just sound better on vinyl -- CCR, old Alman Brothers, Robin Trower. I can't say what it is, it's just better. A lot of the stuff we have on vinyl we can't even get on CD!

3. Yes!

As an old guy(OK, maybe only middle aged), I've got stuff from 1970 on. Maybe 300 records total.

What I'm most proud of are my early '80s LA post-punk stuff. I was buying the bands I saw at clubs, so I have:

- Dream Syndicate
- Green on Red
- Suburban Lawns
- The Minutemen
- Savage Republic
- Party Boys
- Rank and File
- Food and Shelter (the "house band" at the anti-club)

I "lost" or got rid of a lot of stuff, but it's great still having a music collection - I can pull up a record and I know exactly what my life was about at that point.

4. YES!

The album covers were often works of art. I always loved looking at the covers, reading the liner notes, reading the lyrics. With CDs, anything printed on them or on their inserts is so tiny that I can't even read it with my strongest glasses on.
