Ennio Morricone - Democratic Underground

He's inspired everyone from John Carpenter to Mike Patton. The soundtrack to the movie The Proposition (an excellent western set in the outback of Australia) was by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis, and seems heavily influenced by Morricone.
