i am back home for a day during a week camping at illinois beach state park. i have been resting, mostly, and not really out beating the bushes for birds. but just listening, i have heard the constant twitter of the goldfinches, repeated invitations to drink my tea from the towhees, and the clatter and honking of a pair of sandhill cranes. catbirds, woodpeckers, jays, robins, a regular symphony. good medicine.
