for $450!
I was shopping at re-store, the Habitat for Humanity thrift shop, for a vanity top for my guest bath. No vanity top, but I found a professional grade elliptical trainer that was in my price range :woohoo:
I guess I will have to make good on that resolution to do more cardio now. Also need to figure out where to put it, it is a beast......

Does it fold up?
Good luck finding the vanity top!

I have room in the garage or in the guest bedroom, which is underused anyway. I may just quit the gym now. I used to go mostly for the childcare, but now my son is in preschool, so I have some time off.
I may try to MAKE my own vanity top (just to get really off topic). I have direction on how to cast one from concrete, then grind it down for a terrazzo effect.

| 4. I have mine in a guest room |

all set up with TV, cable box, DVD, and VCR. I have my strength training machine in there, too. I'm currently working my way through the Lord of the Rings trilogy. :)
I love my elliptical -- I'm sure you're love yours, too! :hi:

I am going to set up a TV and DVD, too. I mostly do yoga and stability ball for strength, so that should be easy to manage.

What about doing one of those bowl type sinks, with a high arch faucet?
We were at Dillards the other day (looking for pants for Mr. 38 inch inseam- sigh...) and they had some gorgeous stoneware bowls big enough to bathe a small child in. If I hadn't already redone the little bathroom with a euro type sink, I would have considered getting one of the bowls, building or having a table built, then drilling the drains through the bowl and table.
I keep seeing that type of thing in the home crack stores, but I haven't liked most of the bowls well enough. These were gorgeously painted....

The vanity is actually very narrow, so if I used a raised vessel and offset the faucet it will all fit nicely. I found a faucet that has a single handle on the right side, so it will be easy to access, at least if you are right handed.
I am not going to replace the vanity. It is newish and in fine shape, plus, I would have ot refinshish the floors if I changed the footprint of the vanity and I don't want to do that. I will do an antique paint finish instead, to keep everything in the same style.
Were any of the stoneware bowls on sale or a reasonable price? Could you add a drain hole without breaking the bowl? We have a Dillard's down the street. Maybe I will go by and look, although I deeply dislike the mall.

| 11. Yes, prices were good. |

$45 to $65 (1/3 off, IIRC). I'm a big mall hater, too, but no one carries pants for Mr. Long Tall and Ugly but mall stores. I've also seen nice bowls of a similar nature at garden shops....
To do the hole, you'd need a hole saw for masonry (I know ace carries them) and you'd want to have an assistant to pour a stream of water near the blade and hole to keep it from getting too hot.
Good luck, and please share pictures!

I looked it up online. New, it retails at $3000. This one is used, but it seems to work fine. I got a flashlight and looked at the innards. The belt and electrical look brand new. And as a bonus, my $450 goes to help Habitat for Humanity build affordable housing in my community :)

Can't wait.
I couldn't believe it when I spied it across the dim warehouse floor. I had actually done some shopping for an elliptical and concluded that I really did want a Precor and couldn't afford it. But now I can! The only down side, no more excuses about why I can't fit in the cardio workouts :(

I've never used an elliptical. The new Earth Treks gym has some so I'll have to give it a try.

They got hung up on the sprinkler inspection or something. Let me know how it is. I saw it while they were building, but didn't get a chance to climb yet.

It's not everything I would like it to be, but the Rockville SR has been going downhill since Bob left as manager. Routes aren't kept taped and they tore down the lounge in anticipation of a new bouldering area and then took the money away for some things in Fairfax. Unless the put some major money into the Rockville gym its finished. At ET I would like to see foot jibs and some bouldering problems that are not all about power. I wish there were freeweights in the training room but I'll have to stick with doing that at home. The pro shop is nice and having bathroom/changing rooms that are clean and odorless is a big plus. I hope the comraderie that was at SR Rockville moves over to Earth Treks that was the best thing about the gym.

| 16. Route setting is so important. |
|
When I managed a gym, I always went for a diversity of grades AND styles. So the 6 foot 20 year-olds had the long-reach, power routes to do, and the rest of us mere mortals had routes we could succeed on, too. I used to set routes that were specifically designed to shut down tall climbers. It was always a hoot to watch the arrogant tall ones fail on the 11c while my 5 foot girl friends would just float up :)
