X-Men Origins - Wolverine A few questions about the movie trailer:

1. WOW! or just Wow?

2. What is the first uniform WOlverine is wearing - surely he's not supposed to have fought in the US Civil War?

3. Is the music from this movie or picked up from another sound track?

1. From what I remember of Wolverine Origins

the graphic novel, he came to be I believe in the 1600's, or 1700's or so....so, yeah he could've fought in the Civil War.

I know there are some older Xmen comics(early 90's) where Wolverine was talking about all the war experience he had during WWI, and WWII and about going "beserk" all the time.

As for question three, no idea...and the Trailer is, awesome. Liev Schreiber looks good as Sabretooth, and the Blob part looked very good.

2. I don't have a solid memory of this, but...

Alpha Flight's Puck was also unusually long-lived, and in one of the Byrne issues (maybe #15 or #16) Puck and Logan agree that they've crossed paths in the distant past but had never actually met.

I'm not thrilled with Marvel's obsession with retconning nor of filling in all of the blanks in a character's origin, but I recognize that such stories sell comics, so the trend is certain to continue...

5. I don't recall that one with Puck

the one I recall was an Xmen(not sure which one) where he was talking about the upcoming fight against Magneto, and he had a relapse memory of fighting in WWI, and WWII...and if my rusty memory serves, in one of those relapses he was fighting alongside Sabretooth(or against, I know Sabre was there)

3. I had thought that he wasn't actually that old

perhaps born in the mid-19th century from the styles of clothing and technology in the graphic novel, but I'm going on memory here.

Ah, yes, he wouldn't have been in the American Civil War, as he was born in 19th century Canada. He fought with the Canadian army in WWII, so the footage in the movie with the doughboy-style helmet could be WWII and not WWI.

4. 18th century

When Logan and his dad are fighting/trying to kill James, it appears the father at least has a flintlock double barrel shotgun, which was popular in the 18th century

I figure that Wolverines origin/story line was roughly 1850's or so...so, he missed the civil war, but was ready for WWI, and WWI....

6. According to the Origins series, it was late 19th century Canada

Here's the summary from Wikipedia:

"The series reveals that Wolverine was born James Howlett, the son of rich plantation owners in late 19th Century Canada, and has long suffered from various allergies. He is a sickly child so his loving father, John Howlett, Jr., brings an orphaned girl named Rose up from the town to be his companion (Rose is red-haired which some take as a reference to Jean Grey, with whom Wolverine sometimes showed something of an obsession). The two children also often play with Dog Logan, son of the Howletts' cruel groundskeeper, Thomas Logan (who looks a lot like the fully-grown Wolverine). It is hinted throughout the series that Wolverine's elder brother John Howlett III was a mutant himself with powers similar to his own. 7. hmm,

so, basically I wasn't that far off, only by a couple of decades, so it appears to be at the turn of the century 1800's into the 1900's....like say, 1870/1880's....

I figured it would be closer to the mid 1800's...the double barrell shotgun used was popular for quite some time(at least flint lock)...

I should read Origins again, I read a few pages last night, and forgot how good the comic actually was....:D
