but I'm not trying to take it out on anyone. I'm just saying I don't think he's telling the truth or the whole story right now, because he can't. He's in the same position as anyone else who has a job and suddenly hears "I'm sorry, but we're going to have to demote you." Right now, he's not in a position to walk because his contract goes through 2011. So he has to suck it up and pretend the demotion was mutually agreed upon.

It's not that I think he was completely lying. I have no doubt that he's checked with them over and over to make sure they're OK with him doing what he's done, and the answer has always been "We're just fine with it." Now, all of a sudden, because the McCain campaign whined, it's NOT fine and he CAN'T do it anymore. How do you think he REALLY feels about that? He's not going to say. He can't afford to.

Then Nancy called me this morning to see if I was going, and I told her I didn't have a ticket. She thought maybe we could talk our way in, but she got in touch with her Chicago contacts on the campaign and asked for two tickets. They only gave her one, but she said if I wanted to try to get in with her, I could. Well, there was no way they'd give her another VIP ticket, but our county Dem chair managed to get me a regular ticket. At least I got in and I had a great seat!
