| What do you do in America? |
|
My eldest daughter is 11 and we are intending to move to the States in a year or two. If we are still here we would give her a Bat Chayal when she is 12 (as is the way these days), but if we are in the states by the time she is 13 would there be an alternate expectation there for a Bat Mitzvah (and we would therefore have to decide on which celebration to do)? Of course, if you lot (we intend to go to Florida if that makes any difference) also tend to go with Bat Chayals at aged 12 then we know what to do - have ours here. In the UK we are United synogogue (Orthodox), but I don't know what that equates to out there?
Thanks in advance,

| 1. Most Bat Mitzvahs I have been aware of happen at 13 |

We in American prefer to keep people of the same age level doing all the same things. There's evidently no good enough reason to superceed that principle for Bar/Bat Mitzvahs.
