Anyway, I witnessed a similar speech at a recent bat mitzvah. Judaism is about heritage, passing the tradition, survival, living a Jewish life, etc. much more than it is about having certain belief.
It is in the Talmud that has god saying something like, "It is better for my children to abandon me but follow the mitzvot because through good deeds they will eventually find me (Jerusalem Talmud Haggigah 1 : 7 )."
The emphasis is deed over creed.
