| Has anybody here ever had cellulitis? |
|
I was in the hospital for a few days for a heart-related matter. The morning after I was released, I got out of bed and my right leg was in agony. When I looked down I realized it was twice the size of my left leg.
I went to the ER. After giving me an ultrasound to rule out a DVT, they told me it was cellulitis, caused by either strep or staph. Having recently been in the hospital, I figure it was a staph infection. Does anybody know how long it's going to take for the antibiotics to do their work? It's the third day and my leg is just as swollen and painful as it first was. I've never had anything like this before so I'm a little bit freaked out. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks in advance!

| 1. After three days, you should be noticing a decrease |

in the area of redness. If not, you need to be re evaluated immediately. In such a case, either the antibiotic needs to be changed or they missed a clot.
It takes a while for swelling and pain to reduce, but you should be seeing a reduction in the redness by now.
