autoimmune disorder? Just some speculation on my part because I noticed how often depression goes along with an autoimmune disorder.

1. I don't know.

I have an autoimmune disorder. It helped to know that was affecting my behavior and emotions.

Get tested if you think this is a possibility.

2. I'm not sure if it's cause or effect, but they do go hand in hand

It also goes along with chronic diseases, too. I think the loss of normalcy is hard for people to take leading to higher incidents of depression.

3. If you're sufficiently sick

and you think you're always going to be sick, you get depressed. I think that works for any condition.
