| Weekly mileage reports: Anyone interested? |
|
Our e-cycling group did this to prepare for RAGBRAI and I found that it really helped. I would always try to squeeze in 10 extra miles to have a good showing at the end of the week. Everyone in the group agreed it was a good motivational tool.
We had a goal of doing 500 miles a month, but here we are at all different levels so that hardly seems realistic. What I thought might work is that we set our own personal goal for the month and track progress each week toward it.
For example, someone might have a goal of 200 miles in a month. The could get in 180 miles, falling short by X percent or manage 250, exceeding by X percent. (I'm not even going to pretend to do the math here.) So, everyone could fall within a percentage range of their goals.
So, who would be interested in doing this? I thought we could start the beginning of April.
It could be consolidated on one thread, each person stating their goal and then responses under weekly headings. Weeks would go from Monday to Sunday.
Suggestions are welcome.

Not sure about stating a goal, though. I've set myself a goal for this year of at LEAST 100 miles a week. I think I achieved that ONCE last year... I plan on getting a jump on it tomorrow. I'm gonna be sick after lunch...
Unless it rains...:-)

My goals are in number of rides per month, rather than in mileage amounts. But I think this idea is flexible enough to incorporate atypical goals like this. So I suspect I'm interested.
4 rides per month would be a typical goal for me -- alas, rarely met. Only two so far in March, and no prospects to add another before April arrives.

I'm awaiting delivery of an odometer as I write. I have no idea what I'm capable of yet once I get to level roads but this would certainly inspire me to get going. Thanks for suggesting this!
Your suggestion as to how to organize them sounds great! :D

Some kind of weekly ride report would be great. Would time on the trainer count?

actual miles on the road. But I don't think we need to be so picky. Can you track miles on your trainer or just time?

| 6. Right now just time until my computer is fixed... |
|
...but that should be soon. So my goal would be something like an hour a day on the trainer, and maybe 35 miles a day on the weekend.
