25. You are right about that.

I started to think that because I have been sober for a long time that I could
just, well, cut back.

Yeah, that really worked. Somewhere after the twenty year mark, I really slacked off
on meetings. I didn't go for a long time. Then I started to get that feeling back
where I don't like myself very much because some old behaviors reappeared.

Then I realized that I am a alcoholic today, was yesterday, and will be tomorrow.
It does not go away and I can be happy and sober today if I use the steps and
keep the program and meetings foremost in my life today.

I truly believe that the mind of an alcoholic/addict is the eighth wonder of the
world.


As AZDem has said, once you become a pickle you can never go back to being a cucumber.
Or whatever the hell vegetable pickles are made from.
