Too many people have too much invested in it to give it up willingly.

...to pay attention to issues that affect me, and people like me?
I get the sense that for some, there's never a "good time" to get to the roots of bigotry. There's always an election to win, or some other something that necessitates telling women, glbt (and any other groups) they should stop being so selfish and wait their turn. :eyes:

or more serious out there to protest then any feminist or LGBT issue is trivial in comparison.
It's always people who would never complain about sexism or homophobia who insist that we shouldn't. It's always people insisting that only the issues they protest are worthy of protest.
And yet somehow they don't see the arrogance in that, or the signs of their own prejudices. :(

Are at the roots of most societal ills in my opinion.
We can talk about the economics of war or politics, or even the class warfare of the have and have nots, become pocket marxists even, but dig deep enough, look at enough history, and it seems to me those three things, in one form or another have at least significant correlation, if not actual causation, of some fucked up shit. As they use to say, you're either part of the problem or part of the solution. Those who trivialize sexism or homophobia are definitely part of the problem.
