| Okay, I confess, I'm not a fan of Clinton, but...this is disturbing. |

"Hillary Clinton: Psycho Ex-Girlfriend of the Democratic Party." http://madatoms.com/2008/05/edit-hillary-clinton-psycho-ex.htmlThat's vile on so many levels.

I try to stay out of the whole mess, my main objective being a Democrat in the White House at this point. I have to confess not being a great fan of either candidate.
However some of the shit I read about Senator Clinton here and elsewhere makes me want to support her out of sheer anger.
This is typical, and worse, acceptable to those who "hate" Clinton. Those folks never see the bigger problem here, or simply deny it exists.

| 2. The smears are only getting *worse* from what I've seen, and this is one of the most abusive |
|
ones I've seen yet. Which is...what that says about the abusers is upsetting.

| 5. That;s where I've found myself |

I was never a supporter of hers - I think she's acceptable, but as a socialist, I find myself way to the left of most politicians - including both Clinton and Obama.
I used to find Obama acceptable too. Now I find him abhorant - why? Because the way his supporters- in the media, on the internet and in real life - have decided to treat Clinton. Why do they think it's OK to treat her like that? Simple - their treatment of her illustrates their basic world view. To sum it up -- HOW DARE THAT WOMAN FIGHT FOR THE NOMINATION! HOW DARE SHE!
If Obama were really some agent for change (which I don't believe for one second) his followers wouldn't be so much like Bush followers -- the whole with us or against of behaviour and the attitude toward Clinton, is quite revealing.
Anyone who thinks half the vitriol and hate against Clinton is *not* based on her gender is living in a fantasy world. I will agree that half of it is based on her policy -- but how about a reality check -- Obama and Clinton are almost identical on the policy issues. Their hatred is completely irrational. They sound like Rush fucking-Limbaugh -- completely around the bend.
I've pretty much left DU -- I pop into GLBT and Womens Rights every few days and try not to get sucked into GDP.
I've always known that men (and a lot of women) despise women on a fundamental level - never has it been more clear than in this campaign.
My goal used to be to get a dem - any dem - into the White House -- but I've decided I'm going to sit this one out. Obama has made his position on GLBT Americans clear and the hatred toward Clinton (mostly for being female) has totally turned me off.
If I lived in a state that wasn't going to go 80/20 D/R I wouldn't have the luxury of sitting it out. But I do, so I am. I won't be voting for President and I'll be voting straight D down the rest of the ticket.

| 6. I started voting Democrat |
|
When Bush 2 got so far as to run for National office. Before that it was the best Socialist candidate that was on the ticket, although I would sometimes vote Dem in local elections. It was the memory of Ronald Reagan that got me started after this particular asshole got into office. I wanted him out, and I wanted him out yesterday. He scared the shit out of me.
Our political system is what it is. (Broken in a lot of ways)Both Clinton and Obama reflect that. I don't see a whole lot of difference in their basic policies or approaches, but either one of them is so much better than anything Republicans have offer it'd be funny if it wasn't so fucking sad and scary.
I am proud that a woman has gotten this far, and I'm glad she's taking it all the way. I admire her more for her fight right now than certain aspects of her voting record. The sexism has been not unexpected, but it's the clueless ones who deny it that piss me off. How the fuck do they deny sexism? And actually believe themselves? And I'm going easy here, I'm not using the word misogyny, which is probably more accurate. Lordy it's a mess.
