| Complaining about sexist advertising. |
|
Taking a moment to contact a company about its sexist ads sounds positively quaint, but I still do it.
Today I wrote LaCie about an ad it ran on the back cover of MacLife. It shows a jean-clad woman's behind with the question, "Does this make my aspect ratio look wide?"
I also wrote Mediatemple.net about an ad they ran in Web Hosting World. It shows a woman wearing a bustier-like dress with the tagline, "Serious support. " I asked them to either cancel the campaign, or at the very least to run an ad with a man wearing nothing but a jock strap to make their point.
Written anyone to complain lately?
