This week: Washington at Tampa: Young QB vs old QB, hot team vs up and down team, Joe Gibbs vs John Gruden. Washington takes it.
Carolina at NY Giants: Again, inexperienced QB vs a Super Bowl experienced QB, rain? Add a top notch defense against Eli, and does Tiki still have a dropping the ball problem? I'm going with Carolina.
Jacksonville at New England: Tom Brady, Teddy Bruschi. Foxboro. New England, even beating the spread.
Pittsburgh at Cincinnati: This one is really tough. These 2 are pretty even, Cincy has a great turnover rate and Pitt is favored!? On the road? That is like the death knell for a road team in the playoffs. Cincinnati takes down the men of steel.
I really can't trust QBs that haven't played in the playoffs yet, so Palmer is the only one who will win his first game.
I'll have to wait to pick anything else. I don't get good feels until the games actually approach.

NFC: Washington @ Seattle: Hawks at home, I think the offense is too much for the Skins this week, they'll keep it close, but Seattle moves on to the NFC Championship game.
Carolina @ Chicago: The rematch that I personally have been waiting for. The Panthers seem to bring their A game when it matters to them, and the playoffs are something that matters. Couple that with Grossman starting (he's played, what 1/2 of a football game this year?) and that it is his first playoff start, and the Panthers win a low scoring grind it out game, maybe as high as 17-10.
AFC:
New England @ Denver: Another rematch from early season, but this time New England is healthy. I still don't fully trust Jake Plummer, and seeing that he is going against Mr. 10-0 Playoffs on the other side of the ball, NE goes in and disrupts the running game enough to force Plummer to throw - and throw badly. I just can't shake that feeling.
New England advances.
Pittsburgh @ Indianapolis: I still don't think Pitt wins against Cincy if they had Palmer, so I sure don't think they are going into Indy and pull an upset.
Indy in a shockingly easy walk.

if so, then hats off to them, because 90% of teams would not have a chance to win a playoff game with their starting QB getting hurt so early in the game.

Ah, so close. But 3-1 ain't bad. Would've been 4-0 if my deep and abiding love of the NY Giants hadn't clouded my judgement. So here we go:
Divisional Playoffs: Seattle over Wash. Denver over New England Indy over Pitt. Carolina over Chicago
Conference Titles Seattle over Carolina Denver over Indianapolis
Super Bowl XL: Denver over Seattle

Washington over Seattle: Seattle has proven nothing as of yet this year (Indy was resting their starters when they played them), and I like a good defensive team in big games nearly every time. Yes, DC didn't produce much offense last week, but that was against a very good Tampa defense, which was a much better one than they'll be facing this week. Redskins keep it close, contain Alexander, and take the game by a field goal.
Chicago over Carolina: This one will be close. Chicago is good at stopping the run, but they are excellent in pass defense, and don't give up touchdowns very often. Carolinas defense is no slouch, but I can't forget how the Panthers looked late in the year when they had the opportunity to take control of their division. This will be a tight game decided by turnovers. By the end, I believe Bears by 7.
Denver over New England: I like Denver because they are at home, they play very well on both offense and defense, and the Pats aren't quite as healthy as they've looked recently. Don't be fooled by last week; Jacksonville was the weakest team in the playoffs. Denver by 10.
Indianapolis over Pittsburgh: I really hope I'm wrong about this, but the Steelers looked awful on defense, particularly against the pass, against the Bengals last week in the first half. They have been terrible on third down all year long, as well, and this will kill you against an offense like Indys. I saw a lot of bad tackling too. Manning has been bad in big games, but I don't think he's going to feel any pressure against this team. Indy by 14 or more.

My picks were awful last week, but I'll trade that for the Steelers beating the Colts, despite officials making up rules during replays, and ill timed fumbles.
