| I just saved a bundle of $ on towels |
|
My yellow bathroom towels were faded nearly white after six years of use. I bought a package of RIT yellow dye, dyed the towels in the washer, and they look like new. One package of dye did three bath towels, five hand towels and three washcloths. Replacing them with new towels would have cost at least $50, probably more.
I still have some bath towels that are more than 25 years old. Once a towel gets ratty, it gets downgraded to grungier jobs, then cut up for cleaning rags. Some of my kids' cloth diapers (my kids are now in college) are still being used furniture polishing.
Fabric stores and discount stores often sell fabric dye.
