Then on Tuesday, while New Orleans continued to drown, while people screamed for help from their rooftops, Bush gave a speech about Iraq. He spoke to sailors on a Navy ship in the San Diego harbor, and later he accepted a guitar from the musician who was his opening act, and he clowned around with it for the cameras. That night he flew home to Crawford. While New Orleans drowned.

Katrina hit on Monday morning, while Bush was eating cake with McCain and giving a town hall meeting on Medicare and attended a fundraiser. On Tuesday Bush played guitar and gave a speech about Iraq on a Navy ship in San Diego. That night they returned to Crawford for the night. Somebody must have slapped some sense into Idiot Boy because on Wednesday he "cut his vacation short" (by two days) and flew back to DC, and they had AF1 flew over New Orleans on the way so George could view the damage. He finally saw what we had been seeing all week, and he clearly realizes he is in deep shit. Later the staff prepared a DVD of news reports for him so he could catch up, the lazy little prick.

Back on Dec. 12, 2000 when the SCOTUS decision came down I thought I'd go out of my mind. One of my younger brothers (he's since converted and started voting Dem in 2002) called me up and gloated like his team had just won a football game. I hung up on him at first. Then I thought "maybe he was joking" and I called back. He wasn't. We got into it. Big time.

Anyway I can't believe this clown is president of an America, that despite all our problems, bad policies, etc., was the greatest nation on this earth and probably history. He was never qualified to be president. Future generations will look back at this time period, shake their heads and say "what the fuck?!?".

One of the things that most appalled me was how his people seemed to be admitting that their main reason for going there (a half-dozen times that month?) was to set up an inspiring photo of him, in the ruins of the city. They didn't even seem to realize how shameful, negligent, and self-serving this was -- trying to take advantage of a situation which was even more his fault than 9/11.
