Former Vice President Al Gore will deliver a scathing speech Monday at Constitution Hall in Washington -- just blocks from the White House -- at which he will declare America is faced with a constitutional crisis, RAW STORY has learned.

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Day speech is set to take place at noon at the Daughters of the American Revolution's Constitution Hall. Gore will be introduced by onetime Georgia Republican congressman Bob Barr.

14. I am more than a little concerned/alarmed that

lately I've been agreeing a lot with Bob Barr. He's a guest editorial commentator in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and he is throughly disgusted with the Bush Administration.

I seriously doubt I'll ever have reason to be conflicted about BugBoy DeLay, though. I'd rather have Barr, esp. after this latest news. It's still very surprising to me, that's why I was so amazed at the story.

7. I've never cared for Barr, the little I've come across him

But anyone who can stand up for his principles like this and reach across the aisle has earned my respect. A cautious respect, but respect, nevertheless. The man meant what he said when he criticized Junior and the wiretaps. Now he's following through and supporting Al Gore in his opposition to wiretapping. Yep, I'm impressed. With both of them.

This gives me hope that we will eventually be able to open more eyes and form alliances where none seemed possible. Fingers crossed, anyway.

I can take that. I think he's wrong about most things--he really, really hates any expansion of government into any kind of social services--but he is consistent in his beliefs, and he's willing to work with people on the other side in defense of civil liberties.

If only all Repubs were like that...

The Bob Barr intro is a little mind-blowing but I'm curious about the Daughters of the American Revolution, too. I thought they were fairly conservative, but I could be wrong. I don't know a whole lot about them.
