| "Impeachment" Dominates PBS McLauglin Group Discussion |
|
Edited on Sat Jan-21-06 03:17 AM by oasis
John McLaughlin assumes there will be an impeachment of Bush if Dems take the house. He also had praise for Gore's speech.
On the subject of Gore, Knight Ridder columnist, Steve Thomma says Gore won't run in 2008. Thomma's hearing it from Gore people. "He's not doing the things you need to do to run" he said. "He's not talking to the money people".
Well worth the watch this week. Check your local PBS listing.

The first segment was on OBL of course. I played a little game with my wife and said how long will it take before one of these pundit pricks asks why in the hell has he not been killed or captured after four years. Guess what, didn't happen. John McLaughlin spews this ridiculous postulate about bush and how OBL wants him out of office. Then they all start talking about OBL's political strategy!!!! Why don't they just pull up a chair for him so he can chat with them about it. Worst McLaughlin Report segment I have seen and I have seen some bad ones.

you want to hear, you make an attempt to throw cold water on it.
People want to hear about impeachment of the worst president ever. He's committed "high crimes and misdemeanors" and McLauglin has recognized it.
Edit for spelling.

SEGMENT, not the whole show. You must read these posts accurately before starting a flame. The segment on Impeachment was OK, however George Bush will not accept impeachment He will declare martial law, arrest members of congress and send them off to gitmo. He does not have to abide by congress, didnt you read the memo? The man will never go quietly, never!

|
Edited on Sat Jan-21-06 03:34 AM by oasis
a good program based on your title alone. BTW McLaughlin used the word "impeachment" at least 10 times in the first segment which runs close to 20 minutes.
If you care to check it "impeachment" is the topic of this thread.

|
frog marched out of the white house, after a fair and honest election restores the house and senate to the democrats. Even if such a miracle occured you would have to then also impeach Cheney, and then Hastert. Dreaming about impeachment, wonderful as it sounds is like smoking crack. I hate the fact that America, My America has been taken over in a bloodless coup but I am trying to accept reality.
Nice talkin to ya..

|
Edited on Sat Jan-21-06 03:51 AM by oasis
Bush is a criminal and it would be the responsiblity of the house to impeach his no good ass. Cheney will be shaking in his boots because he knows that the Dems will be coming after his lousy, rotten carcass too.
No miracles needed. Only "dreamers" would believe patriotic Americans would put up with Bush's criminality for one minute more than they had to.

|
Thats about one minute.
Listen, I understand the desire for justice, I just think it's going to take a revolution of the people not an act of congress. It's too late for that.
I wish I had more faith in the government, but power has been consolidated too far and they have made choices that would mean prison if the secrets came out. They will fight to the death to hold on to power before that happens. Have you seen the prison abuse photos that a judge ordered the DOD to release over a year ago? so much for judicial branch oversight. Have we gotten that report that was promised by Pat Roberts on Phase II after Reid shut down the house two months ago? So much for the legislative branch. That leaves only one branch of government with no oversight whatsoever, claiming absolute power.
Hence we have a dictatorship! immune from all attempts at restoring our democracy legally. It's up to the people now, and the soccer moms and Nascar dads will have really get hurt bad by the government before they do anything. I hope I am worng but I don't think so.
I never used to be this cynical, hell, I never used be political util this madman stole the presidency in 2000

| 8. I hope that the Democrats take Congress in 2006 |
|
and having done that, I would like them to have impeachment hearing of Bush and others within his administration, but I do not want Bush impeached.
I would like the Dems to parade Bush like a monkey on crack, for the remaining two years of his term. Have Mr. Bush before committee after committee without his father figure Satan (Cheney) with him. Expose Mr. Bush to the American people, display the quality of his intellect and the cost of electing ignorance. Expose the corruption of his administration and force Bush to explain the reasons behind his various actions. Expose this whole Gannon (reporter at the WH) thing that still doesn't make sense - explain whether there was someone having sex in the WH since Bill left. Demonstrate to the American people, just because one says he is a man of God, doesn't make it so. Finally, and most importantly, give the American people a lesson on Our Form of Government, which it appears, so many of us has forgotten.
Then, at the end of two years, let that dancing monkey go.....and file the criminal charges, civil lawsuits, and take every damn penny that the Bush family has. Make sure that the next generation of Bushes will not be rich, but will work in positions that fit not only their true intellect, but their economic station in life - somewhere shoveling horse shit.
And Bush, lets render his ass to Iraq - and let them put his ass on trial for War Crimes. Let us then see the truth face of courage, from our fearless leader.

A successful impeachment process could result in a worse situation. (I'm still all for it!) Indict Cheney for corruption so he cannot effectively take the presidential office when bush goes down. Who would chimp appoint as VP in anticipation of his own fall from office? In other words who would the next appointed president be?

Impeachment is required by law. Let the chips fall where they may.

I don't know what you mean "required by law." Impeachment like most prosecutions is discretionary. Does the VP have to be impeached?

|
from what I've been reading on DU the past few months. My boycott of the corporate media extends to even PBS, so I wouldn't know. But I did used to watch this show frequently, and it was typical right wing fare with a huge helping of screaming that made it virtually impossible to watch. What do you think is behind the improvement?

was never for the Iraq invasion and hates how the government has bloated under Bush.
Eleanor Clift, the lone liberal, is now given time to make her points before being talked over. John McLaughlin saw to that when he booted Micheal Barone off of the show 2 years ago.
Edit to add: Sorry for such a late reply. Computer was down all day Saturday.
