and, having lived through the Nixon era, I can tell you that there were plenty of people worried
about an attempted coup then... in the day before the resignation, the entire military was put on high
alert... but a number of generals quietly refused to follow orders from the white house, they
were tipped off that Nixon was given an ultimatum to resign by the House leadership. So, while
they didn't outright refuse to follow orders, they did the slow response thing.

Bushitler is a more dangerous sort... first, he ISN'T just a common criminal like Nixon, he believes
that he is doing God's work, that, despite every fact before his own eyes, he is right and whatever
HE decides is right because he knows that God is on his side. And, over the last 5 years, he has
removed (caused the retirement) of military commanders that might oppose him. Not to mention his
new sweeping powers to arrest anyone that he feels like arresting, and he has the repukes in charge
of congress and the media, so widespread dissent can be thwarted.

I am very afraid of what will happen to us in the next 2 years.

24. I agree that we're in much worse shape. Nixon has some respect

for the Constitution, even as his most out of control.

Bush has none. Unlike Nixon, he's a privileged frat boy who believes the world ticks to his clock.

I, too, am very concerned about where this is going. People are going to get hurt. And who knows how long it will take to recover the civil rights we've lost. This See No Evil Congress has only made things worse -- and I'm sorry, Dems included.
