OH-Gov: Woodward: Bush called Blackwell A "Nut"

Bob Woodward's new book, State of Denial, reports that President Bush thinks Ohio gubernatorial candidate Ken Blackwell is a "nut." On page 347, Woodward depicts a scene where Bush is waiting for some 2004 election results. Woodward quotes Bush as follows: "I'm the President of the United States," Bush fumed, "waiting on a secretary of state who is a nut."



From page 347 of Woodward's State of Denial:

"At 2:43 a.m., someone noted that Bush was ahead in the popular vote nationwide, prompting the President to sneer, "If the popular vote made it, I wouldn't be here."

The campaign was left to anxiously wait for a statement from Kenneth Blackwell, a former black power student leader who had morphed into Ohio's gadfly Republican secretary of state.

"I'm the President of the United States," Bush fumed, "waiting on a secretary of state who is a nut."

As the Cincinnati Enquirer's "Politics Extra" blog points out, Blackwell's nuttiness didn't stop Bush from raising $1.5 million for Blackwell's campaign this summer.

1. Worse news for Dems from Woodward - Carville was passing Matalin info

on election night - info on 250,000 ballots in Ohio that needed further examination. Matalin passed that to Cheney and Bush, and soon after, Kerry's number crunchers came back and said there were only 150,000 ballots that were in play.

6. That's exactly what I thought...

I'm no Blackwell fan, but look at everything he did for Junior.

Blackwell stole Ohio for him, stonewalled when we needed answers and took
the heat for obvious voter fraud and irregularities.

Junior is such a petulant, little punk.

I can only imagine the number of people that he has totally pissed off during
his misAdminstration. He seems loyal to no one, but himself.

On another note--I find it a bit odd that a total fruitcake would call
anyone a nut.
