| to all those who are fed-up with the democratic party... |
|
do we have any other choice?
is there any other party that has more than a snowball's chance in hell of stopping the republican's creeping fascism?
shouldn't our primary goal be to get as many dems elected as possible, and THEN try to repair our party?
...or do we just give up and move to canada?

| 1. I'd have done the latter long ago if I could have afforded it. |

I truly believe it's a downhill slide for everyone alive today until well after we're all gone.

| 2. No, but some of us are realizing that the only way to oust the DLC |
|
may be to hand the party such a resounding defeat via a good third party showing that the DLC is finally discredited forever. I hope it won't come to that. I hope Dr. Dean is working hard to get rid of these conservative old bastards that have taken the party away from us and handed it to the corporations. I hope there are primary candidates worth voting for who have a chance of unseating pubbies, instead of the usual array of mealymouthed DLC types who promise business as usual, bend over.
I would really rather get my party back. If not, then I'll hand them a resounding defeat. The DLC has demonstrated it has absolutely no interest in stopping creaping fascism or creeping feudalism. The only choice between the DLC and the GOP is how fast the creep is.

and that's how Bush got elected. Gore was no different than Bush, so said Nader.

| 7. So do you want the Dems to have a "resounding defeat" in 2006? |

| 3. First priority should be clean elections. |

HR550 in the House to implement paper trails for e-machines nationwide. Push for hand counted paper ballots wherever possible. Otherwise much of the campaigning for good candidates could be for naught.

| 5. Go for the Grass Roots |
|
In my opinion the national party is broken and bankrupt of ideas. It has completely lost its roots. The solution is to grow new roots through local activism. In other words, use the same tactics the religious right did: local organization, local candidates and building a name for the party as the place to be if you want change for the better. It's not going to happen overnight, but the beltway bluebloods are never going to get it.
It's particularly frustrating for those of us in the deep red states. I have no representation at the Federal level, so going local is the only option.
So don't go to Canada. Get down in the muck and build some grass roots.

as Republicans - and not do what we believe in anyway....what's the point in electing them over anyone else? I didn't like Nader's tactic when he was saying this - but I have to say, I'm pretty discouraged. so if I went with the Greens, at least I'd feel represented, truthfully.

Edited on Thu Feb-02-06 04:11 PM by DubyasWorld
the greens?
how many greens hold nat'l office?
more importantly, how many joe-and-jane-six-packs are going to vote green for congress?
and if joe-and-jane-six-pack don't vote green, how does that party ever gain real political power to make a difference in this country?
