When does the time come to form Left wing-Militia groups?

3. I've been saying this to DUers for

at least 6 months, probably since the 2004 "election". I also think starting communal compounds, with or without a militia, might be a good idea. The economy is gonna tank by this fall, and we all better have gardens and be raising animals for meat and eggs and such.

PS: If the Jews in Germany had had guns, it wouldn't have helped them. And thinking it would have is a pure fantasy. Just like your fantasy...if "they come for you," don't you think they'll have more guns than you do? How many people have barricaded themselves in a house with their guns and held off the cops long enough that the cops just gave up and went away?

a resistance to an illegal occupation or internal dictatorial takeover must be done by a resistance underground. Militias are neat, but their primary function can only be to back up a regular army or be used as a new police force when a revolution is over, or at least in its bursting stage...

militias created against a power with overwhelming force are heroic but mostly lose in the end (and give a good reason to the dictatorship to clamp on any dissenter, even the peaceful ones...

normally a legal democratic opposition uses legal means to fight first, maybe with civil disobedience...

most of the time they are brought down with violence when the dictatorship becomes open. Then normally an uderground resistance is created but often it is too late and they cannot really succeed without foreign professional help...

the key to avoid a a dictatorial overtake is to organize a MASS movement through different organisations, unions etc... provide help to people in need so the people protects the so far legal resistance...

the problem is that very few democrats have a clue how to do it, not to talk about experience... there is no massparty tradition in the US since the labor movement was eliminated in the early nineties. And you can't always count on some FDR to show up at the right moment...
