|
and gets to keep the money?
while the majority in jail stole little, had little, and have to pay it back while spending 10+ years in jail?

| 2. They look like the ruling class, that's why. |

They wear the same uniform (business suits) and talk about the same things and are the same color and have the same accents and of course they just made a silly mistake and they can be rehabilitated because they're "our" kind of people, you know.
However, that black teenager caught with a joint? Throw away the key!

"Christians" equate abortion with murder, and yet, Mississippi's new anti-abortion law provides for a prison sentence of "up to a year" for a doctor convicted of performing an abortion (murder.) Doesn't sound like the "christians" really care too much about the evil function after all.
And why do we have "white collar" prisons?

| 4. They don't. Not in the federal system. |
|
The media loves to play up the few times this is the case but in the vast majority of white collar crime cases the criminals do substantial time (there is a formula based upon the amount of money actually involved) and are forced to pay restitution. All of the cynics out there will jump on this post but frankly they are dead wrong. The feds don't play around with this stuff no matter what "Law and Order" or whatever bullshit FICTIONAL show on TV says otherwise.
The state legal systems are very different and vary greatly.

It's the inherent violence in the crimes that 'poor' people are able to commit.
At least, that's my theory.
