I heard this last night on one of the talk shows...
this whole port deal is rove at his best...
think about it..
all the republicans can now get away from a VERY unpopular president.. so now they all look "tough on security"
and they look like they can stand up to bush..
what do you think?
is this rove at his best or just another bush fuck up ;) lol

1. It's what I'd been thinking all along!

A sham show of spine for the GOPers in congress and at the same time an issue to overshadow the fact that the GOPers in congress will not stand up to Bush on his spying on Americans! Karl thinks the Quakers are the terrorists too!

and his family stand to make a lot of money out of this partnership with the seven families. Lots of money. And since people are squawking there's been a suggestion that the Dubai boys partner up with an American corporation. And who's name has been suggested as being the only corp that's up to the job???? Why Halliburton of course. There's Dead Eye's cut of the money.

No, this deal was never supposed to see the light of day. It was supposed to slide under the table and nobody was supposed to be any wiser.

11. Rove may have more worries in his rotten future than helping rich

repukes get richer. He may have to fend of Fitz and an indictment (God willing) soon. I think this is why he's slipping.

First, he is not the genius some people are determined to give he credit for being. He is just ruthless, amoral, and there's nothing too low that he won't do.

Second, he has to worry about his own ass right now.

Third, I think that with KKKarl's criminality and penchant for unethical, if not downright criminal, behavior coming out so clearly, most repukes would want to steer clear. They know he's not the all-knowing and all-seeing. It just seems to be dems that believe that crap.

4. If Rove were that smart he would have

had Bush jump on Katrina right away to show how he can handle catastrophic events. If he had done something when the levees broke, Bush could have been a hero with tons of goodwill, instead he is a inept a**hole.

6. I think you're right. The deal was for the benefit of UAE & groups like

Carlyle (*'s father is a major player in it). We may be giving Rove too much credit or it's like when there's an explosion in the Mid-East by some independent agents and Al-Quaeda lets the U.S. give them the credit for it because they've invested nothing and it gives them status.

5. I think not, while staying open to the possibility.

The interesting thing about this is that the Republicans are now in a position where they must defend the "homeland" not against al Qaeda, but against other Republicans. It's not a winning strategy, from where I sit.

The only way they can win on this is if Dems do their usual, and sit quiet while our country dies.

7. At first I thought that was a crazy notion, but now I'm not sure.

Something strange is happening with Rove. Bush has made so many GIANT blunders lately, it's as if Rove is on vacation. He's either mulling an impending indictment or plotting an end game for the Republicans in November.

This is largely a case of "you reap what you sow." This administration has sown the hatred of Islam, and the fear of Muslims, in order to carry out what is largely a religious war.

If the republicans in the House and Senate are able to capitalize on this situation, it will not be due to Rove's "genius" .... it will be because an unfortunate number of democratic "leaders" are invested in the Bush/Cheney business of war, and too many others are lacking spines, and because those of us at the grass roots level fail to take advantage of the opportunities to create the changes in course that our nation needs to make in order for democracy to survive.

. . . This is no win situation for too many of them with too many of their constituents.

We can expect plenty of distraction from the criminal surveillance, the growing recognition that something was seriously wrong in the 2008 election, the growing buzz on impeachment, and . . .

But this one not one of those intentional distractions. These people really aren't very smart. Rove is no genius. He "wins" because he cheats. When people praise his skills, it is like praising a card sharpe for being a skilled poker player.

Actually, their A-Number 1 distraction is always the same, and "we" always fall for it: Yatter and speculation about the 2008 Presidential election when impeachment and other events between now and them are going to completely change the dynamics and render all speculation meaningless.

10. It sounds like a KKKarl Rove tactic

And the leaders of the republican congress jumped all over the deal, even before the Democrats could almost as if they knew it was coming.
But there is a lot of money involved in this, there has been many reports of who stands to gain from this deal and the whole Carlyle Group involvement keeps from completely buying the rove story.

With any luck in will not matter in the fall anyway, currently the American people are clearly leaning to the Democrats as several polls have indicated in recent weeks.
