Bush & GOP doing poorly in all polls

Bush job approval 33% to 36% GOP in Congress approval rating at 32% http://www.pollingreport.com/cong_rep.htmDems in Congress approval rating at 34% (no surprise there) http://www.pollingreport.com/cong_dem.htm57% of Americans think Iraq is a mistake; 48% think Dems would do a better job of handling Iraq (they don't realize Dem leaders in Congress probably wouldn't do any different) http://www.pollingreport.com/iraq.htm

3. That's why it's essential to vote the wimps out
|
Nobody's going to vote for a party that can't stand up for anything, and getting these do nothings out of Congress is essential for the future of the party.
Voting the GOP out is equally essential, for obvious reasons. However, unless we see some action from Dem candidates opposing them, don't bet the rent that it will happen in 2006.

over the last 6 Congressional elections- and I see nothing to indicate that it's going to change. The Dems punted away so many golden opportunities over the past 2 months to assert some power, stand up for the public interest and contrast themselves with the far right- while putting popular issues on the table- that I doubt they can recover from it.
The tone's already been set for the year.
I hope I'm wrong, but I wouldn't even bet lunch money on it.
As a party, they've demoralized their base and given most everyone else nothing to vote FOR.
Not being "Republican" isn't likely to be enough this time- any more than it has in the past.

5. Combination of the two.

Until the Democrats stand for something people can identify, they will not be a majority party. Right now, about all we have going for us is we're not Repugs. That's not enough to win elections and hold power.

6. R's are low for what they've done, D' s for what they haven't done

If the Democratic Party had the first hint of balls it would have a90+% approval rating.
