Creditors Hit Reservist Hard Despite Federal Laws

For a year after that day in 2002, Air Force reservist, Oscar Rodriguez fought in the middle east. That’s nothing compared to the battle he’s fought ever since.

The problem is what when he shipped out, he left behind the contracting business he spent 15 years building.
“I realized a 90 percent cut in pay. Now, I don’t know anyone that can continue on with the bills at one tenth of their income. It’s really tough,” said Rodriguez.

“The day after Oscar was deactivated from duty, the Bank of America started foreclosing on my house,” said Oscar. They didn’t succeed, but the collections left his business, his credit and his marriage in shambles.
