I think I made progress with a Repuke at work

I walked up to him and said something about the deficit and he said, "You know, every time I think about giving one of your guys a chance, I turn on C-Span and watch the leftists talking at their little gatherings and know that I can't vote for them."

So I said "You know, both parties have extremes" and he made some critical remark about the extreme left (like atheist Communist whatever) and I said, "Well, your extremists burn crosses on people's lawns and blow up federal buildings and mail anthrax to people."

I added: What are you so afraid of from the left? A balanced budget? Cleaner air? Less dependence on oil? A reduced deficit? Better health care?

He said: I may give your side a chance.

I'll admit, he's said that before and then has accused "Candidate Left" of eating his or her own children, regardless of the circumstances.

But I maintain hope.

We all must battle the war on right wing radio stereotypes every day. My guess is he's let Rush, Hannity, etc do his critical thinking for him (I realize that is being very kind) for years and believes all the half-illiterate comparisons and straw man arguments for why Hilary is the antichrist. Maybe you should ask him if he thinks all liberals are on welfare (because obviously you aren't) and if he can really commit to saying a blow job was so much worse than lying about reasons to go to war with a sovereign nation? Sometimes when you challenge them on their preconceived notions about "libruls" the entire house of cards falls.
