| In Death and Service, Soldiers are only Army personnel |
|
Edited on Wed Mar-22-06 12:12 AM by Erika
Navy personnel are sailors, Marines are Marines, Air Force are airmen, etc.
My nephew Marine said he was not a soldier, he is a Marine. He's on his 2nd tour in Iraq. Have a little sensitivity of the correct names of military personnel.
You will note that www.icasualties.org identifies the dead and injured troops correctly.

| 2. I know. I didn't realize that soldiers referred only to the Army |
|
until my Marine nephew called me on it.

| 4. We know the correct terms (I've been w military 15 years) |
|
but the reports don't always get it right, so we post the reports and the family/friends/town etc very quickly correct us!
Or if we get the wrong birthdate or high school name or etc. I'm glad they do correct us, it's heartbreaking to lose America's children for a politician's political gain thru total absolute deliberate lies, and to post incorrect info dishonors the life of those now dead by bush's war of aggression.

|
and my family comes second because the military didn't issue me a family.

...as a liaison officer to the Marines. This rivalry between the various units of the military even carries over after death, and I'm personally sick of seeing it. You're either in the military, or you're not in the military. IMHO, splitting hairs on minor distinctions has gotten increasingly more ridiculous with each passing year.
If it were up to me there would be only one military service broken into three major branches:
*air force, to include missile forces and any future space forces *infantry, to include artillery, special forces, amphibious marines, and air support units *navy, to include surface, submarine, and naval air forces
