| Drugs or children - a matter of priorities |
|
So the headline in the Syracuse paper this morning was all about how the cops in Cortland made a drug bust and found three neglected children. Two youngsters were underfed and had lice. The third was a five year old with Down's syndrome found lying in his own waste, covered with lice, weighing only fifteen pounds. Now here's the kicker - the neighbors had reported several times that the children were neglected, and nothing happened. Someone tipped the cops about drugs, and they showed up at once to bust the parents for 5 oz of marijuana
5 oz of marijuana vs 3 children in danger
I don't know about you, but I couldn't care less about the marijuana!

| 1. Well, at least they saved the kids... |

Even though their priorities ARE completely screwed up.
I hate shit like this because it makes it look (to the uninformed) that all pot smoking parents are so negligent, which, from my observation, couldn't be farther from the truth.

| 2. It's the culture of life, kiddo |

As long as people are wringing every last bit of misery out of life, the religious wack jobs are ecstatic. Praise Jebus. As soon as someone is caught with a god given herb that eases the pain they're in, throw the book at them, lock them up, abuse them, beggar them, and never allow them to see the light of day unsurrounded by razor wire ever again.
Somebody in media needs to start standing up to these thugs. Where is OUR Edward R. Murrow?
